Christmas Lights

Well, I got down all the Christmas lights today. It was bittersweet, I wish we could have them up all year long but then they wouldn't be as special at Christmastime. It was quite a chore and kept me busy for most of the afternoon. I've always heard you will have bad luck if you have your Christmas decorations up on New Years day, I'm not sure if this is true or just an old wives tale. Truth is, I'm not taking any chances. 2007 was a rough year in many ways, I want as much luck going into 2008 as possible!

Christmas 2007

We were good this year and on Christmas morning, Santa left some really great presents. Cooper got a firetruck, Suzy got an Ipod and producers tickets, Danny got Van Halen tickets and I got a treadmill.

Can you see the chocolate around Coop's mouth. He was in heaven with all the "candy corn" Santa left him

Suzy got Danny a UGA watch and he got her beautiful blue topaz earrings

Last present, it was a popup firehouse
I hope everyone had as a wonderful and joyous Christmas as we did

Christmas Eve at the Farmers

The annual Christmas Eve oyster stew dinner was held for the first time at Brad's house this year. I thought it was going to be really strange with Grandma's funeral being only a few days before but we ended up having a wonderful time in Dalton. Shana and Brad were both wonderful hosts and Brad's pork roast and grilled mackerel was amazing. Danny locked his keys in the truck so added to the excitement of the evening. Throughout the dinner I felt Grandma looking down on us enjoying a tradition that has been carried on since her mother (my great grandmother) started it many years ago.

Sara Kate can't wait to open presents

Suzy showing off her artistic skills to us all. Though no one could quite draw Holly right.

Oh my goodness, the kids were excited

Fried oysters anyone?

Opening gifts, isn't Suzy's hat the best?

The Farmers and a few McEvers thrown in.
After dinner, we opened gifts. I am still not .sure what Brad liked more, the Wii or the ceramic worm I got him. Ok seriously, his eyes were like saucers when he saw the Wii. Mom was quite sneaky this year and surprised me with a Garmin Navigator. She had been calling me the last few weeks under the guise of getting one for herself. When we were opening gifts, at first I thought I had opened hers by mistake and started trying to rewrap it. She finally let on that it was for me. Very sly mom! I love my Garmin, Suzy and I have been having a ball playing with it.

Santapooloza 2007

This year we were lucky enough to have Santa to visit us for Cooper's 2nd Birthday party, that combined with Suzy's annual Christmas party made for one heck of a party.

Santa arriving, Cooper is not sure what to think of it all

Suzy and her festive friends...Lauren, Elise and John

Emma passing the Christmas Grapefruit to Dan

Emma was not having any luck giving the grapefruit away

s Santa reading "The Night Before Christmas" to all the kids, Carter was really enjoying the bounty of candy canes.

Cooper just wasn't too comfortable around Santa

Bryce telling Santa about the doggie he hoped to get. Cute story about the reindeer Santa is holding, as soon as Santa came in and sat down, Cooper ran in the other room and grabbed the reindeer to give to Santa. He knew that Santa was supposed to have reindeer

12/20/2007

Cooper's 2nd Birthday, what an event... here are some photos from the big day.

We were greeted by this cute banner in the Dogwood room. They make sure everyone's birthday is special.

Alex, Lucy and Xiamara are celebrating with cupcakes. (Coops had just awakened from a nap, so he spent most of the party in mom's lap being extra clingy)

The rest of the Dogwood Crew. Michael, Stella, Sanglia, Isabel & Andrew

Cutest picture ever, he had to ring these jingle bells every afternoon when we left school. Followed by his rendition of "Jingle bells...Jingle bells....Jingle all the way"

Cooper's birthday present was an aquarium. It was pure torture having to wait two days until we could put our fish in there.

The newest members of the McEver clan. Tiger barbs. They have actually been quite entertaining to watch. They like to school and chase after one another. We decided on smaller fish because the fish guy told us that goldfish were just plain messy fish. who knew?

Cooper had pizza and cupcakes for his birthday. Lately, pizza has become his favorite food. He likes lots of cheese and a few beef crumbles on his pizza.

Look Mom, I'm green!!

Cooper's 2 year old pictures

This past Thursday, we took a trip to Toccoa to have Cooper's 2 year old photos done. In the past he has been a happy, smiley guy; but this time the terrible two monster took over for him.
Despite all the crying and having to hide myself in the closet so he could not see me, we did get a few cute shots. Enjoy!

Finally after all was said and done, we finally got him to smile with Grandma, Papa and Suzy.

Hayworth Family 1918

I was looking fo photos on my computer today and found this one of my Great Grandfather and Grandmother, and just a few of their 12 children. Grandma Louise is to the far right. I thought Suzy looked a lot like her in this picture but I keep looking at the eyes and Cooper's look exactly like that.

Cooper's 2!!

He is one happy guy this morning, he KNOWS it's his big day!

Cooper today at the Clifton School

and one year ago

We woke up this morning to Cooper with a big grin on his face. He knew it was his special day. The ladies at The Clifton School sang to him as soon as they saw him walking down the hall, and boy was he strutting his stuff this morning. I brought in cupcakes for Coops to share with all his friends. Tonight we are going to pick our his new fish (who he has already named Ricardo), and eat Pizza (which at this moment is his very favorite food). If the rain lets up we want to go see the live nativity scene at the church. Cooper's big party of course is on Saturday, so please be sure to come share in the fun. 2:30PM!!
