Not to be confused with "Foot in Mouth" disease which I am afflicted with or "Hoof and Mouth" disease that cause the cows to go nuts.
I went to pick up Cooper from the Clifton School yesterday and remarked at how strange it was that there was only one other child in his room and the connecting room was empty. It seems that one of the little crumb snatchers brought Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease into the daycare.
It's caused by a virus (related to the chicken pox virus) so the only meds that help are a good dosing of tylenol. It's characterized by fever, tiredness, sores in mouth, and blisters on the hands and feet. Cooper was running a fever over the weekend and has been extremely fussy and tired the past couple of days. I did notice a small blister between his fingers this morning so I'm keeping him out today and letting him get as much sleep as he can. He still has a pretty decent appetite so I'm hoping we got the mild form.
Don't worry, it's only an infant/toddler disease so if you have been around Coops you should be fine. Let's just hope we get this cleared up before the weekend.
