Getting back to normal??

Cooper is slowly getting better. He's still a little congested and coughing but overall feeling a bit more like himself. I didn't think he was ready for daycare today, so he went to work with Mommy. He was quite busy all day, but really faded out at the end. He has been asleep ever since I buckled him in his carseat. I keep telling him, work is tough...stay young.
Danny has also come down with what Cooper had. He went to the doctor this morning who basically said, get some throat spray and some rest. Hopefully, he will take a couple of days off. I think that would be the best medicine in the world for him.
Quarterly taxes are done! Billing starts tomorrow. It's a busy week for us.

A little bird told me that Suzy was having fun babysitting Jack.

Meeting our new cousin

Jimmie , Sabrina, Jack and Eva came down to Grandma Dannette's house this weekend for a little R & R, so we decided to visit. Coops wasn't feeling too well but he made the best of it. Jack sure was glad to see Suzy. Eva is a very cute little girl

Sick baby update

Cooper had a really fussy night. I think we probably got about 2 hours of good rest. The doctor told me yesterday the best thing for his runny nose was to keep him in a upright position. So, we spent the night last night downstairs in the recliner. He'd fuss for a while, sleep, and then start fussing again. By 4AM, the suggestion the doctor gave of giving him a little whiskey was starting to sound real good. (For both me and him).
This morning he got up and played for a while. He also took his bottle and his bananas/rice cereal, so he is feeling a bit better. The antibiotics went down well, unfortunately I haven't pinned him down to get the eye drops in yet. I guess I'll do that and give him a bath , I can tell he is starting to get a little bit cranky. Then maybe the little guy will take a nap.
I know I sure could use one!!! Or at least a big cup of Cappucino.

Beach Bits

We attended the Beach Boys concert at Chastain last night. What started as a really fun night ended short due to Cooper being sick. Unfortunately you can't plan illness, so we watched as long as possible and headed back home.
It was a really nice night to be at a concert. We had really good lawn seats, first row, so we were able to see everything. The crowd watching was great, there were so many Hawaiian shirts and colorful people.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra played first. They were wonderful, Suzy and Elise were very interested in some fellow who played first violin. Right at intermission, I got the call to come home. We drug it out for a bit so we could at least see a few songs. To be honest, the guy dancing in front of me was worth the admission alone! He held up the stereotype that white guys can't dance. I don't think I've laughed so much in my entire life.
The Beach boys sounded GREAT, again I wish we could have had the whole experience but a little is better than nothing.
Suzy and Elise were really nice about leaving the concert early. I know it broke their hearts to have to leave only a quarter of the way in, but they took it like the troopers they are. When General Fussypants gets well again, I want to take the girls to go see the Bodies exhibit.

Trip to see Dr. Weil

Cooper & I just got back from the pediatrician. The little guy has an ear and eye infection. We now have antibiotics for both. He is finally resting comfortably, after another sleepless night. I took this picture in the exam room. Dr. Weil was ingenious enough to put a mirror by the table. Coops loves to look at himself.

Late night party

No ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's for me last night. Coops decided he wanted to party instead of sleeping. I finally had to put him in bed with us around 1 or so, from then until about 3 AM he tossed and turned. I finally gave in and made him a bottle , we stayed up until 5AM. Giving up on all prospects of sleep, I got up and sat downstairs with him so at least Danny could get some rest. Coops slept for about an hour while I rocked him. It's funny every time I stopped rocking, he commenced with the squirming again. I don't know what was up with the little guy last night. I noticed on his sheet that he had a 3 hour nap at daycare. I gave specific instructions this morning not to let him sleep all day. Could it be teeth? Growth spurt? Tummy problems? I hope it was just a one night deal because I've become quite accustomed to getting at least 5 hours sleep at night.
We got through South Beach Phase 1, day 1 yesterday. It wasn't all that bad, especially when we got to have a sugar free fugisicle for dessert. Danny was a bit ravenous and finally ended up boiling some eggs about 10 PM. He did stick to the diet though, I'm so proud of him. I have learned one thing so far, egg beaters are horrible. Ugh I made some this morning and it was like eating wallpaper paste. We are going to stick to the real deal from here on out.
I'm going to the grocery store and load up on some spices and jello tonight. Spices.... because I'm beginning to grow tired of the taste of Olive Oil, Jello...to help fill up Danny's tummy. I heard if you can get through the first two days, it gets a lot easier. It also gets a lot easier when you see the lbs coming off.
which by the way I forgot to mention I joined the 12lb club last night. I've lost 12 lbs since I started seriously exercising and cutting out calories about 2 weeks ago. I've still got a whole bunch to lose but it's nice to know that the running/swimming are really paying off.
Here's hoping we aren't going to have another long night tonight!

He's going to be a handful

Here we catch Cooper trying to look innocent while fulling leaves off of my begonia. No worries, he didn't put anything in his mouth. I am just begining to realize how busy I'm going to be when he gets a little more mobile. He is starting to try to pull up and is getting up on his hands and knees. It's only a matter of weeks, and he is going to be a boy on the move

Suzy vs. Ipod

Ahhhhhh the wonder's of technology. Suzy's new Ipod is already on the fritz. It doesn't recognize any of the music on her player. It's so frustrating, but I suppose these things happen when you run a Mac product on a PC platform. We are going to try to reinstall Itunes sometime soon or just call the Web geeks. I need them to fix a couple of things on our PC (downloader virus and install adobe correctly) so maybe this is the push I needed to call the Geeks out.
We took Suzy up to Big Canoe on Sunday, she is going to be up there until Wednesday. Wednesday, we have the beach boys concert at Chastain. Fun, fun fun!

Cooper's Homework

We had our first homework assignment from the Clifton School, make a poster of all of Cooper's family. They hang these right beside their cribs so they can see their family when we aren't around. I think it is a comfort tool for the little guys. This is our contribution. I wish I could have made it a little more artsy but there is not much you can do with posterboard, sharpies, and not much time.

By the way, it says "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper"

Even better than a Cheeseburger in Paradise

Suzy and I have loved Jimmy Buffet for the longest time. When she found out earlier this year that he was playing in Atlanta right around her birthday, all she could talk about was getting Jimmy Buffet tickets for her birthday. She reminded me on a daily basis when they were going to be on sale. The day of the sale, several of my friends and I got online and started trying to purchase tickets the moment they were made available. Unfortunatley for us, everyone in Atlanta was trying to do the same. I kept hoping that we'd find a cheap pair on Ebay but that was impossible, a pair of seats were going for around $500. Suzy got so upset that she penned Mr. Buffet a letter telling him how she thought it was unfair that the ticket scalpers got all the seats and left everyone to pay inflated prices. She also suggested that he could make this better by giving us free tickets to the show. Well the show came and went (in the pouring rain) and we never heard from Jimmy B until this photo arrived in the mail today.

What a great gesture. Suzy was on the phone screaming to me as she opened the mail. She is literally on cloud 9 as I post this. Good going Jimmy Buffet, you really do care about your fans.

Greased lightening

I had to brag on Suzy for a moment. Last night we went running and she absolutely smoked me the last quarter mile. Hence, I'm officially changing her name to Greased Lightening. I can't wait to see what kind of hardware she picks up when we start racing.

How time flies

Cooper is 7 months old today!

A visit from Papa

Papa McEver came by for a visit tonight. It was really good to see him.
Cooper and Suzy slid around in the floor of the dining room while we ate.

We had crockpot BBQ, salad, and corn and strawberry/apple pie courtesy of Aunt Sandra. It was all very good.

It's going to be a tough run for Suzy and I tonight

I love my Grandma

Have you kissed your plumber today?

The plumber got here around 8PM, grinned when we showed him the problem and was out of here within 20 minutes. We have water again after the water company had cut it off earlier in the afternoon. We have a shower that will turn off. This problem= solved!
Things I have learned:
1) A Home warranty is a good thing. You may have to stay on hold half the day, and talk to everyone in their customer service department but saving $300 is worth the hassle.
2) Always mention you have a baby in the house, that gets the gears turning when nothing else will.
3) The cobb county water department rocks! They give customer service a good name. I got our guys name and wrote a nice little note to his supervisor.
4) Never, ever give up....someone will listen to you

I voted for the Fair tax and Ralph Reed today, I hope my vote helped

Move over Picasso

Suzy has discovered the joys of paint by number.

Hooray! Suzy is home again

Suzy got home from Papa Farmer's house yesterday! She finally got to drive on a regular road while she was there. She drove down Prather bridge to the Yonah Dam and back up to First Baptist Church. No trees, small animals or other vehicles were destroyed in this little adventure. I'm so proud of her, before long she is going to be the offical Mcever family chauffer. Start making your reservations now.

When it showers...it pours

Woke up this morning, started the morning routine as usual. Stretched, put the baby in bed with Danny and got in the shower.
A nice warm shower will do wonders to wake you up and clean out all the cobwebs in your head.
I reached down to turn the shower head off ....and nothing happened.
Water continued to pour out of the head.
I turned it again, again, and again.
Nothing, Nada, Zero, Zilch!!
Danny got up and banged on the pipes but this shower was determined to run.

It's 4 hours later and our shower has probably drained half of lake Allatoona.
I've been on the phone with the warranty company, become very familiar with the Plumber's answering machine and still she pours.

Well at least Mr. Coops is getting an extended nap this morning.
